As a Chinese-born artist whose work is shaped by years spent living in international cities like Shenzhen and Chicago, Luo’s practice explores how urban life and technological systems reshape the way people experience the modern world.
In this series, Luo translates organic life into a network of data-like points. The imagery suggests a reality in which individual experience is flattened into systems of classification, reducing the complexity of everyday life into measurable units. The repetition of these uniform marks evokes a loss of individuality, where the “living” is paradoxically represented through the cold, mechanical language of information processing.
The formulaic nature of the marks also reflects a life structured by schedules, routines, and repetitive labor. Rather than liberating people from monotony, modernization and technology often intensify it, placing individuals within increasingly rigid systems that shape daily existence.
